The Excavations Series, Initiated 2011

series evolved during a period of mental and physical exhaustion after months of dealing with an undiagnosed illness.  These intimate scaled works came from the necessity of painting in short bursts from a reclining position. Such working conditions gave rise to an honest, unpremeditated body of work that stripped away all the superficial trappings of “making art.”
